FRENCH FLAG

We're not your favourite band, but we probably influenced them.

We can only stand being in the same room when we can barely stand at all.

I’m sorry, I can’t hear a word you’re saying, but I don’t think I’m missing much.

I think I chose an incredibly appropriate day to listen to this record. The combination of sunshine, semi-productivity and good quality Glasgow pop punk is a good one.

I’m not much of a reviewer. As far as the technical aspects go, I can’t tell the bad from the good or the good from the great. Luckily the majority of people who listen to music aren’t reviewers either (thank god) but we’re still allowed to tell other people if they’ll like a record or not. You’ll like this one. For fans of New Found Glory, Fireworks & Man Overboard, it’s perfect pop punk with great vocals singing clever lyrics. My personal favourite was initially It’s Time To Go Home, but I’m on my fourth listen and it’s becoming harder to choose. Definitely a good sign.

The EP is out now on Struggletown Records and is available from wolvesatheart.bigcartel.com and wolvesatheart.bandcamp.com (digital).

Directed by Ryan Mackfall

Produced by Crashburn Media

See Sharks LIVE on their forthcoming tour with Social Distortion and Chuck Regan, across the United States. There will be also one off dates with Chuck Regan in Canada.

Ryan Mackfall makes good videos, and Sharks make good music. You should be familiar with and a fan of both if you aren’t already.

Rise Against’s new video for ‘Help Is On The Way’.
I was skeptical at first, sort of like they’re becoming a cliche of themselves. But that lasted about five seconds after I realised how good this video was and how so many other bands should be doing things like this instead of hiring a hair and makeup team and playing in an abandoned warehouse.

That isn’t directed at any specific band, by the way.

As for the song itself, I hope it’s a grower. Unfortunately so far their new songs are sounding okay, but sort of like the songs on their older albums that I don’t like as much. Whether they’ve grown as a band, or if the songs are technically brilliant but just not my taste, well I’ve never been a very good judge of that (I talk about music, I don’t analyse it). It’s hopefully just a personal taste issue. I sincerely hope that everybody else loves this record, even if I don’t.

I see a whole bunch of people I would quite happily see. Almost too many across all days on the Main Stage considering Lock Up is still to be announced.Although, few bands will keep me from Rise Against. Really like, two or three. Not buying my ticket yet because I have no money, but let’s just hope French Flag get on the bill and don’t have to worry about it.

I’d like you all to do something awesome with your evening and start following The Barents Sea, a group of talented men from Perth, Scotland who kindly play music for your ears. If you’re a fan of Bruce Springsteen, The Gaslight Anthem or Jake Gyllenhaal (and I know for fact that a fair few of you are), then you in particular should definitely give them a listen. Plus, I spent a lot of my evening making their Tumblr look pretty and I would like it to be appreciated by the masses.
